Considering getting Brain Training For Dogs?

Brain Training For Dogs is an online dog training course that uses positive reinforcement training and games to mentally challenge your dog and build a bond with them. This gets them to want to behave and obey you. It has excellent reviews, but is somewhat controversial.

I bought this course a few months ago to help train my dog and in this article, you’ll see my full review of it.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Brain Training For Dogs pros & cons
  • Who Brain Training For Dogs (and who it’s NOT for)
  • Whether or not Brain Training For Dogs actually works
  • A sneak peak into the curriculum
  • And much more

If you’ve tried to train your dog and failed, or if you just can’t handle your dog’s energy and misbehavior, don’t worry — it’s not your fault.

The way most people tell you to go about fixing your dog’s unwanted behaviors is like pouring water into a bucket filled with holes.

You’re doing a lot of work, but you’re not actually fixing the problem.

Brain Training For Dogs actually fixes the problem.

But before we get into the review, here are two disclaimers:

The first disclaimer is that I’m biased.

One of the main reasons people abandon their dogs is that they can’t control them.

This is often due to a lack of training, socialization, or mental and physical exercise.

This is the owner’s fault — not the dog’s fault.

So yes, I’m biased toward recommending a dog training course because it can prevent dogs from being abandoned.

Also, I did a survey of 600 Golden Retriever parents and asked about their training experience.

91.5% of people who’ve purchased an online dog training course said they found it helpful, which is another reason I’m biased toward courses like this.

That being said, I’ll give you an honest review of what I liked and didn’t like about Brain Training For Dogs.

The second disclaimer is that this post includes affiliate links, which means I may get a small commission if you purchase the course through the links on this site, which comes at no cost to you.

Alright, now that we have the boring stuff out of the way, let’s get into the review!

What Is Brain Training For Dogs?

is brain training for dogs legit

Brain Training For Dogs is an online dog training course.

It starts by teaching basic obedience and then moves into brain games for your pup so that they can be mentally stimulated and learn to bond with you, listen to you, and learn how to behave.

It’s somewhat controversial (we’ll get into that later), but has many happy customers (including myself).

Why Brain Training For Dogs Works

Brain Training For Dogs works for one simple reason: it gets to the root of your dog’s problems.

And that problem is that most dogs are simply bored.

They’ve got lots of energy and are smarter than we give them credit for.

Bur when they sit at home all day without a challenge or outlet to release some of their mental energy, they start to act out.

Think about a toddler. ..

When toddlers get bored or don’t get enough attention, they start to act out and get into trouble.

It’s the same thing with dogs.

The games in Brain Training For Dogs challenge your pup, give them an outlet for their mental energy, and lets them bond and have fun with you.

Who Brain Training For Dogs Is For

Brain Training For Dogs is for a special type of dog owner.

It’s for someone who enjoys training their dog and helping them become the best dog they can be.

It’s for someone who respects their dog, wants to build them up, and wants to teach them to want to behave.

Here are some behaviors that Brain Training For Dogs can help stop:

  • Biting
  • Barking
  • Jumping
  • Digging
  • Pulling on the leash
  • Chewing
  • Too much energy

This course was perfect for my dog, Oliver, because he had tons of energy that would often manifest itself in the unwanted behaviors above.

By playing the games in this course, he had a productive outlet for his mental energy, became more confident, and we had fun growing together.

And it was perfect for me because I had a step-by-step framework of what, when, and how to play these games.

I had a proven plan to follow, instead of coming up with training and games on the spot myself and hoping they worked.

You can learn more about who this course is for in the Brain Training For Dogs pros section below.

Who Brain Training For Dogs Is NOT For

Although Brain Training For Dogs is great, it’s not for everyone.

If you’re someone who wants to ship their dog off to a bootcamp and get them back all trained up, then this isn’t for you.

(By the way, that doesn’t work if you don’t know what they did to help your dog behave.)

If you’re someone who wants to dominate their dog and scare them into obeying you because you’re the pack leader, then this isn’t for you.

Besides the two types of people above, there’s also a special case where your dog isn’t the right fit for Brain Training For Dogs.

If your dog has a severe behavioral issue like aggression, anxiety, reactivity, or resource guarding, then you’re better off hiring a professional to work 1 on 1 with you.

Brain Training For Dogs can help mild behavioral issues by helping them become more confident and relieve some mental tension, but severe behavioral issues need 1 on 1 attention.

Brain Training For Dogs Pros

Here are some of the pros for Brain Training For Dogs:

  • It’s text-based. If you like reading, you’ll love this course.
  • Each section has a troubleshooting section that addresses common problems you might run into with these lessons.
  • It’s fun. It’s a series of games that teaches your dog how to behave, let’s them have fun, and builds a bond between you two.

Brain Training For Dogs Cons

  • It’s text-based. Yes, I mentioned this as a pro, but if you like video courses more, then this course might not be for you. (If you prefer video courses, check out this online dog training course review).
  • It doesn’t contain lessons on how to handle specific problems. This course gets to the root of most dog behavior issues, so they’ll likely solve themselves, but you won’t get specific training on how to deal with specific problems.
  • It doesn’t contain lessons that teach mainstream tricks. If you’re looking for a course to learn how to teach your dog to rollover or spin, this isn’t the one for you.

Is Brain Training For Dogs A Scam?

Brain Training For Dogs is one of the more controversial dog training courses out there.

It’s not because of the curriculum or the trainer who teaches it, but the way it’s promoted.

They have hundreds of online marketers promoting it because they earn money if they bring in customers.

As they say, marketers ruin everything, which is why you’ll see lots of ads and blog posts trying to sell you this course.

As you’ve noticed, this is an actual review by someone who’s purchased the course, had success with training their dog from it, and listed out the good and bad parts of it — not a shameless sales pitch.

Can’t I Just Learn How To Train My Dog Online For Free?

Sure, you could go to YouTube University and learn how to train your dog by watching dozens of hours of videos, but there are a few problems with that.

First, it takes a lot of time.

YouTube videos and blog posts have lots of fluff that are designed to keep you entertained and engaged.

Not to mention, it takes to time to find a trainer you like and find videos that are addressing the problem you’re having now.

Online dog training courses, like Brain Training For Dogs, tell you what to do step by step in an easy-to-follow format.

Plus, there’s the fact that there are hundreds of different trainers out there teaching different techniques.

Some are good, some are bad, but if you mix and match different training techniques, there’s a chance that you’ll cancel out all the work you’re putting in.

For example, let’s say one trainer tells you to get your puppy to stop biting by bopping them on the nose.

Another trainer tells you that to get your puppy to sit you put a treat in front of their face then lure them into a sit.

Well, if you’re bopping your puppy on the nose all the time, when you go to lure them into a sit, they might not sit because they’ve associated your hand coming toward their face with pain.

You might scare them into not biting you, but you could render lure training useless with your pup.

And here’s the final question: has it worked for you yet?

I’m assuming you’re still struggling with some training or behavior problem, otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this.

If it hasn’t worked yet, I recommend investing in a course like Brain Training For Dogs.
